So what’s the hot classic suit jacket tip for 2020 and should I really follow this trend or stick to the classic black staple boyfriend blazer you can always turn to?
There are many jacket trends for AW2020, which include a range of colours and button details.
Oversized boyfriend style overcoats, large roll-over sleeves, belts and tweed fabrics, trench coats in camel and black and classic leather jackets and puffer coats will be worn and loved this winter season.
However, there is an easier choice if you’re not sure what on-trend jacket to invest in. As a wardrobe staple, the classic blazer, such as our Mossman signature blazer with gold button detail, is the perfect addition to any wardrobe.
It’s is the ideal piece that will easily take you from day to night, all while looking and feeling fabulous. A classic suit jacket will take you through all seasons and last you for years as ‘classic’ never goes out of fashion!
What do we need to consider first before buying a new blazer or coat?
Firstly, identify your correct body shape, then pick the styles, colours and cuts that suit you best. We are all different, so of course, not just one jacket style is best suited to everyone.
Let’s check out what body shape you are and what blazer may be the best for you:
The Hourglass body:
Luckily for you, you’ll look good in all types of blazers, especially a blazer with a nipped waist so it will accentuate your narrow midriff. For the bigger breasted hourglass though, we would recommend choosing a single-breast style to flatten you out a little bit more.
The Pear body:
Being more bottom-heavy, focus on achieving better proportion by choosing a short or cropped blazer. Selecting our Mossman double breast style in this length will bulk your upper body up a little more to make you look more in proportion. A long length jacket that sits below your hips is also beautiful for your profile but make sure that it has a slit in the back to give your bottom a little more breathing space. Stay away from the Hip length jacket, as it will only highlight the areas that you may be a bit more self-conscious about, or if this is not the case for you – go for it girl – wear the jacket you love!
The Inverted triangle body:
Picking a longer styled blazer with a little bit of flare at the hem will complement your shape. Also, make sure there are no pockets around the bust area, as we want to draw the eyes away from the top of the body and focus on the lower features instead.
The Rectangle body:
The boyfriend blazer style is your best friend. Choose a style that has some dimension such as a flared hem, rolled up sleeves, pockets, etc. and be sure not to button up your blazer, instead wear it undone, so it doesn’t highlight that your waist does not have a defined curve.
The Apple body:
Your primary focus should be to slim down your upper body with a solid black blazer with black buttons, keep away from colour and also any buttons or pockets that will bring more attention to the top half of your body. Pick a cut that cinches at the middle to help you create a waist. Always focus on drawing the eyes downwards so a long style will also be suitable for your body shape.
Will it be a bad investment buying on-trend jackets and coats this 2020 winter season?
You will find over the years that some fashion trends and colours should never have been tried and will hopefully never allow our eyes to see them again! Thankfully, this 2020 winter see’s classic colours and patterns return, meaning that most pieces will be timeless investments in your staple wardrobe. Creams, browns, camels and classic blacks are the heroes of this coming season, and the classic Mossman jacket will be found on our shelves in these staple tones and classic colour palette.
